U.S. Senator Steve Daines has announced his support for a recent appropriations bill that provides funding for the military, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and several other federal agencies. The vote helped prevent a government shutdown and ensured continued operations for these critical sectors.
“I voted for the appropriations bill that avoided a government shutdown and funds our military, the Department of Homeland Security, and important agencies like FEMA and TSA. The irony, however, is that critical agencies like Immigration and Customs Enforcement were funded through the Working Families Tax Cut that we passed last summer so Democrat threats to shut down the government over funding for DHS are nothing more than partisan grandstanding to appease their radical base.”
Daines also commented on border security issues, stating: “Over the coming weeks and months, we must not repeat the mistakes made by Joe Biden and Senate Democrats who made our communities unsafe by opening our borders to violent criminal illegal aliens. We must give our brave law enforcement officers the resources they need to keep our nation safe,” said Daines.
The statement comes as lawmakers continue to debate national security funding and immigration policies.
