Montana Department of Agriculture seeks grant applications for specialty crop projects

The Montana Department of Agriculture is inviting applications for the 2026 Specialty Crop Block Grant (SCBG) program, offering over $2.7 million in federal funding. The SCBG aims to boost the competitiveness of specialty crops such as fruits, vegetables, peas, lentils, dried fruits, and various horticultural products in Montana.

Eligible applicants include state and local organizations, government entities, producer associations, academia, community-based organizations, nonprofit organizations, and other stakeholders in the specialty crop sector. Projects that qualify for funding may focus on enhancing industry efficiency and sustainability, conducting research and education initiatives, developing new crop varieties, improving distribution chains’ capacity, or advancing food safety and pest control measures.

Interested parties must submit their grant proposals by 5:00 p.m. on February 27, 2026.
