Jim Bjelland and Logan Anderson have been appointed as the newest board members of the Montana Wheat and Barley Committee (MWBC). Bjelland, from Conrad, MT, and Anderson, from Chester, MT, will represent districts three and two respectively. They bring a combined 57 years of farming experience to the governor-appointed board.
Bjelland has been involved in wheat production since 1978, continuing a family legacy over a century old. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that Montana growers can continue producing high-quality grain. “Being part of this Committee is important work,” said Bjelland. “I’m truly honored to work alongside my fellow directors and the staff here.”
Anderson, a fifth-generation wheat and barley producer, is interested in how technology can enhance farm practices. He highlighted artificial intelligence (AI) as a tool that could benefit young producers. “I value the work MWBC does to keep Montana producers competitive,” said Anderson.
Kent Kupfner, executive director of MWBC, expressed confidence in their contributions: “Jim and Logan both bring practical experience, strong local ties, and a clear dedication to Montana agriculture.” Bjelland replaces Keven Bradley of Cut Bank while Anderson takes over from Max Cederberg of Turner.
