President Donald Trump has signed a bill naming a ridge near Emigrant Peak the “B-47 Ridge” to honor four servicemen who died in a B-47 Bomber Crash in 1962, a news release on Sen. Steve Daines' website stated.
The plane from Dyess Air Force Base in Texas crashed into the slope, killing Capt. Bill Faulconer, Lt. Lloyd Sawyers, Lt. David Sutton and Lt. Fred Hixenbaugh, the release said. The plane was on a routine training mission and everyone on board was killed, the news release said.
“After almost six decades, it was an honor to get this bipartisan bill signed into law that will forever recognize the brave men who tragically died in the B-47 Bomber Crash near Emigrant Peak,” said Daines, one of the sponsors of the bill.
U.S. Sen. Jon Tester (D-Montana) and U.S. Rep. Gianforte (R-Montana) were also sponsors. The legislation passed the U.S. Senate in February and the House last month, the news release said.
