Auditions will be held at the Bigfork Playhouse Children’s Theatre Afterschool Arts Center, located at 833 Grand Ave, on Tuesday, February 21 from 4:30-6:00 PM for 5th through 7th grades and 6:00-8:00 PM for 8th through 12th grades.
Once upon a time, in a far away swamp, there lived an ogre named Shrek. One day, Shrek finds his swamp invaded by banished fairytale misfits who have been cast off by Lord Farquaad, a tiny terror with big ambitions. When Shrek sets off with a wisecracking donkey to confront Farquaad, he’s handed a task — if he rescues feisty princess Fiona, his swamp will be righted. Shrek tries to win Fiona’s love and vanquish Lord Farquaad, but a fairytale wouldn’t be complete without a few twists and turns along the way.
This production calls for a large cast; over 30 speaking parts and a medium chorus of Fairy Tale Characters and various Kingdom people. It costs nothing to audition and there is a small $50 participation fee if you are cast in the show. Please prepare a 30 second Monologue or short selection from another play or book, and plan to learn and sing something for us at the audition. Don’t worry if you don’t have experience, we’ll have materials at the theatre for you. Wear comfortable shoes that you can move in, as we will be moving and dancing around the stage – if you don’t we’ll turn you into an Ogre and you’ll have to live with the smell forever”.
