Join us at the Big Timber Carnegie Public Library on September 7th to celebrate “The Best Gift: Montana’s Carnegie Libraries.”
There will be drinks, hors d’oeuvres and a book signing.
“The Best Gift: Montana’s Carnegie Libraries” profiles each of Montana’s 17 Carnegie libraries. Built between 1901 and 1922, Andrew Carnegie, then the era’s richest man, provided funding to help communities build their libraries.
Today, fifteen of those libraries are still standing.
Author Kate Hampton brings their stories to life and shows how those libraries in turn impacted the people. The captivating photographs by Tom Ferris transport us to the libraries’ doorsteps.
