Most Democratic and Republican campaigns for Montana governor have gone digital in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The majority of the campaigns for Montana governor are using social media to reach voters. They are also sharing information about the state of emergency related to COVID-19 that Montana Gov. Steve Bullock declared, according to Yellowstone Public Radio.
The campaigns of Democratic candidate Montana Lt. Gov. Mike Cooney, Democratic candidate Whitney Williams, Republican candidate Montana State Sen. Al Olszewski (R-District 6), Republican candidate Attorney General Tim Fox and Republican candidate U.S. Rep. Greg Gianforte have gone digital.
The state of emergency was declared March 12 in preparation of COVID-19, according to the official state website. Bullock announced a stay-at-some directive March 26 that took effect at 12:01 a.m. March 28, lasting through Friday, April 10, said Montana's official COVID-19 website. It instructs people to stay at their residences, except for essential activities, or to operate essential businesses and operations.
There are a total of 177 cases and four deaths due to COVID-19 in Montana, according to official data. Globally, 165,585 people are reported to have recovered from it.
