City of Livingston issued the following announcement.
In this time of uncertainty, the Livingston City Pool has been fortunate to be able to open for the season this Summer. Unfortunately, with colleges and the local schools returning to the session earlier in August, as well as our inability to train and certify any new lifeguards during the shutdown in April and May, we will not have the minimum staffing required to continue operations after August 7, 2020.
Understandably, utilization will also drop off once schools are back in session and the financial commitments to maintain the pool, chemicals, and added requirements for cleaning and sanitation also pose insurmountable fiscal challenges to continuing beyond August 7.
The Splash Park will continue normal operations beyond August 7, 2020, as weather permits.
We thank everyone for their continued support of the City Pool and their kindness and patience with staff as we have worked through the many changes brought by COVID19. Please join us in wishing our Pool staff all the best in the coming school year!
