The Republican National Convention (RNC) wrapped up last month with highlights including a promise of “record prosperity” from President Donald Trump, who accepted the GOP nomination for president, as reported by MPR News.
“In a new term as president, we will again build the greatest economy in history, quickly returning to full employment, soaring incomes and record prosperity,” Trump said, as quoted by MPR, with regard to the country's unemployment rates as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
Montana House of Representatives candidate Leigh Verrill-Rhys (R-Dist. 48) says that the RNC was generally “positive and reassuring.”

“The highlights of the RNC were the ordinary Americans from all walks of life,” said Verrill-Rhys, who added that the convention highlighted citizens, immigrants, refugees and all races and creeds. “[They] spoke of their experience in this country – their hopes and dreams – all possible in what they all recognized as 'the greatest country in the world.'”
The Montana candidate says that the policies put forward by the Trump administration and the GOP, both present and for the future, will be beneficial to the community and employers of Billings.
“The Republican Party condemns the rioting, looting, arson and violence we have seen in Democrat-run cities like Kenosha, Minneapolis, Portland, Chicago and New York,” Trump said in his RNC speech, as quoted by MPR News.
Going forward, Verrill-Rhys hopes to see the “return of civility, peace and security” in the streets, as well as the prosecution of looters and rioters. She called for “investigation into all of the perpetrators and funders of this violence and civil disorder and, when indicted by a grand jury, brought to trial.”
“The best advice for all of us is do not follow the mob,” Verrill-Rhys told Big Sky Times. “Hear all sides of every position, believe only what you have seen with your own eyes, act according to your best self.”
