It’s Friday, and Missoula County employees are working hard for you! Meet Leslie Wood, Administrative Assistant at the Missoula Public Library.
I have worked for the Missoula Public Library for the past 10 years. Initially, I was an on-call page (aka: a shelver of books) and became the administrative assistant in 2014.
Missoula Public Library’s new building is an “All Under One Roof” model. We share our space with several partners – Missoula Community Access Television (MCAT), Missoula Community Radio, Families First Learning Lab, SpectrUM and the UM Living Lab.
We offer a wide variety of programs every day as well as offer services you might not expect, such as free notary service, passport applications, map printing and more. The library catalog has moved beyond books to include a catalog of things that can be checked out, including bird watching kits, kitchen gadgets, life jackets, a telescope and more. The library is a valuable resource for Missoula residents of all ages and backgrounds. We also attract many tourists passing through Missoula. My office is hidden away on the fourth floor of our new building. I get my exercise going up and down our many flights of stairs as well as daily walks to the county offices. I am proud of my role here and spend my day paying bills, preparing bank deposits, managing the tills and ordering supplies. I try to anticipate the needs of my co-workers and make sure they have the supplies they need to provide the best possible service to the public.
If you have not had a chance to stop by the new library, come check us out. Feel free to explore on your own or sign up for a tour! You can also take a virtual tour at https://www.missoulapubliclibrary.org/.../missoulas-new.../
