CURRENT STATUS
Trail Ridge-Yesterday there was moderate growth seen on all sides of the fire with most of the growth seen in the Tolan Creek Drainage. Hazardous conditions still exist due to high winds and are being assessed by firefighters in the area. Containment plans are being implemented by heavy equipment crews, hand crews, and Type 6 engines through a variety of management tactics. Containment lines along the North and West sides are continuing to be worked on and Forest Roads are being prepared as potential containment lines. There are new area closures being implemented for both the Bitterroot and Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forests.
Thompson Creek-Yesterday the Thompson Creek Fire experienced high winds but crews were able to hold containment lines and are continuing to secure the fire’s perimeter. Mop up operations are well underway around the fire and containment is being improved with the work crews are conducting.
WEATHER AND FIRE BEHAVIOR
Cooler temperatures are expected today with little change in relative humidity. High winds will be observed around the fire today into tomorrow. These cooler temperatures will stay through the weekend and early next week with a chance of rain showers early next week.
