Current Board and Committee Openings

Serving on a city board or commission is a great way for our citizens to become involved in our local government. The following boards and commissions have current openings.

CITY POLICE COMMISSION

Recruitment reopened. Applications accepted 10/07/2022-11/07/2022

Recruiting for 1 city citizen member, to replace a member with an unexpired term ending on 12/31/2023.

The purpose of the City Police Commission is to help identify good candidates that will fit well within our community as prescribed in MCA 7-32-4151. In order to qualify for a seat on the Police Commission, the applicant must possess the following qualifications: a U.S. citizen who is at least 18 years of age, a qualified elector, a resident of the County and State for at least 30 days and a city of Livingston resident who is a non-felon and of sound mind. CITY CONSERVATION BOARD

Recruiting for two seats. Applications accepted 10/07/2022-11/07/2022

Recruiting for 2 city citizen members, to replace a member with an unexpired term and one youth member. 

The City Conservation Board serves in an advisory capacity, primarily providing recommendations to the City Commission on issues to help the City reduce costs and promote sustainable growth by making recommendations on energy-efficient equipment, procedures, or systems. This Committee meets the second Wednesday each month at 5:00 p.m. via Zoom due to COVID-19, but typically, in the Community Room of the City-County Complex. LIVINGSTON URBAN RENEWAL AGENCY

Recruiting for two members to fill a vacancies. Applications accepted 10/07/2022-11/07/2022

Recruiting for 2 city citizen members, to replace a member with an unexpired term ending on 12/31/2025.

Per the URA By-laws, to become a member of the URA, the applicants must reside within the City of Livingston, be at least 18 years of age, be a registered voter, be a citizen of Montana, and be a citizen of the United States of America.  Applicants shall not hold any public office under the City other than their commissionership with respect to the Urban Renewal Agency.  Visit the Livingston URA webpage for more information.

CITY PLANNING BOARD

Recruiting for one non-freeholder resident. Applications accepted 09/26/2022-10/26/2022

Recruiting for 1 city citizen member, to replace a member with an unexpired term ending on 12/31/2023.

The primary role of the City Planning Board is to serve as an advisory committee to the Livingston City Commission and propose policies for: subdivision plats; development of public ways, place structures, and utilities; issuance of improvements, and layout public ways and services. The purpose of this board is to encourage and improve the present health, safety, convenience, and welfare of Livingston citizens and to plan for the future development of their communities in accordance with (MCA 76-1-102). PARKS AND TRAILS COMMITTEE

Recruiting for two vacancies. Applications accepted 10/07/2022-11/07/2022

Recruiting for 2 city citizen members, to replace members with an unexpired term ending on 12/31/2023.

The City established an advisory committee for the purpose of assisting the City of Livingston in establishing the City's Parks and Trails Master Plan.  A plan for the preservation and promotion of parks and trails in the city. Visit the Parks and Trails webpage for more information. 

Eligibility to Serve

To be eligible for an appointment, volunteers must have interest or knowledge in the committee’s subject matter. Volunteers should also be available to meet at the committee’s regular meeting time, and meet other general qualifications as an appointed representative including:

  • a U.S. citizen who is at least 18 years of age
  • a qualified elector
  • a resident of the County and State for at least 30 days, and a city of Livingston resident
  • a non-felon
  • of sound mind.
