FROM THE FIELD, #HURRICANEIAN
Cassandra Loveless, of Kalispell, is on her first Red Cross deployment and is currently in Jacksonville, where she helped out at the Legends Center evacuation shelter. There she set up cots, registered clients and coordinated medical equipment that was coming in. Tomorrow she will move on to her next Hurricane Ian assignment, but she’s not sure where just yet.
THE WHY: “I’m 37 years old and I’m single, and I don’t have any kids. I could spend the rest of my life sitting and watching TV, but I don’t want to do that. One of the biggest things we can do with our lives is be of service to others, and it's just a matter of finding which service fits you."
Casandra has been a Red Crosser since 2020 and back in Montana helps deliver lifesaving blood as a Red Cross transportation specialist.
JOIN THE TEAM: The Red Cross of Idaho, Montana and East Oregon is currently recruiting more volunteers to help the organization respond to disasters big and small. To learn more about becoming a Red Cross volunteer, visit redcross.org/volunteer or email IDMT.Recruiting@redcross.org.
