Montana State honors top faculty with 2023 Founders Day Faculty Awards

BOZEMAN — Dedicated and innovative advisers, teachers and researchers from across Montana State University have been honored this month and last month as the university presented its annual Founders Day Faculty Awards. The awards recognize achievements in faculty research, teaching, outreach and creative projects.

The 21 honorees for spring 2023 are:

  • Academic Advising Award, Mary Stein, College of Education, Health and Human Development
  • Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, Anna K. Fridley Distinguished Teaching Award (tenure), Jennifer Lachowiec, College of Agriculture
  • Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, Anna K. Fridley Distinguished Teaching Award (non-tenure), Mary Ann Cummings, Norm Asbjornson College of Engineering
  • Betty Coffey Award, Maggie Greene, College of Letters and Science
  • Charles and Nora Wiley Award for Meritorious Research, Timothy McDermott, College of Agriculture
  • Cox Faculty Award for Creative Scholarship and Teaching, Anja Kunze, Norm Asbjornson College of Engineering
  • Excellence in Online Teaching Award, William Fassbender, College of Letters and Science
  • Excellence in Open Education Award, Veronica Baker, College of Letters and Science
  • Excellence in Outreach Award, and JeMichelle Grocke-Dewey nnifer Munter, College of Education, Health and Human Development and MSU Extension
  • Fox Faculty Award, Lisa Rew, College of Agriculture
  • James and Mary Ross Provost's Award for Excellence, Erik Grumstrup, College of Letters and Science
  • President's Excellence in Service Learning Award, Sarah Church, College of Letters and Science
  • President’s Award for Gender Equity, Bryce Hughes, College of Education, Health and Human Development
  • President’s Excellence in Teaching Award, Linda Karell, College of Letters and Science
  • Provost's Award for Exemplary Service and Fidelity to the Public Land Grant Mission of Montana State University, Rob Maher, Norm Asbjornson College of Engineering
  • Provost's Award for Graduate Research/Creativity Mentoring, Dennis Aig, College of Arts and Architecture
  • Provost's Award for Undergraduate Research/Creativity Mentoring, Nicholas Stadie, College of Letters and Science
  • Teaching Innovation Award, Myleen Leary, Jake Jabs College of Business and Entrepreneurship
  • Vice President of Research and Economic Development Award for Meritorious Technology/Science, Brock LaMeres, Norm Asbjornson College of Engineering
  • Women's Faculty Caucus Distinguished Mentor Award, Abigail Richards, Norm Asbjornson College of Engineering
