A former police officer from Polson, Montana, Matthew Timm, has pleaded guilty to serious charges involving the sexual abuse of a minor. The admission was made in the Twentieth Judicial District Court, Lake County, as announced by Attorney General Austin Knudsen.
The former officer, 42, acknowledged the charges of sexual abuse of children and incest. Timm admitted to having photographed and filmed a girl under the age of 18 over a period stretching from January 2017 to March 2023. These charges emerged after incriminating material was found on a flash drive in the victim's home.
According to the victim, Timm began his misconduct when she was between 12 and 13 years old and it continued through her high school period. The victim revealed instances where she discovered Timm filming her by hiding recording devices in her bathroom.
The legal agreement includes a 40-year sentence with 30 of those years suspended. Importantly, Timm has consented to serve a full 10-year prison sentence without the possibility of parole. Sentencing is scheduled for July 10 at 1:30 p.m. in Polson.
