The Lewistown Police Department took two young boys into detention in connection with a BB gun shooting that took place outside of Garfield Elementary School, NBC Montana reported.
The shooting took place on the school's playground. According to Assistant Police Chief Jon Polich, the confrontation took place on March 3.
Polich said that two boys, ages 10 and 12, fired a BB pistol toward the playground of the elementary school from a residence in the neighborhood. Polich said the boys fired the gun from a house. Polich said the boys were inside the house when they fired the gun.
When the boys were in the Fergus County District Youth Court they were charged with the felony offense of assault with a firearm when they were involved in the incident. Police say they are going to be held responsible for the transgressions that they have committed. The day of the incident, the day that the doors of the adolescent detention facility first opened, both boys were brought there to be detained.
The authorities' decision to withhold the suspects' identities was due to the fact that both of them arejuveniles. According to NBC Montana, the incident resulted in a woman sustaining some minor injuries, and as a consequence, she was transported to the hospital for treatment.
