HELENA – Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen, alongside a coalition of attorneys general, has taken a stand against the Biden administration's recent actions, filing a lawsuit to challenge the unlawful Title IX rule that threatens women's rights and safety.
In response to the Biden administration's expansion of Title IX to include "gender identity," Attorney General Knudsen expressed his concerns, stating, "For 50 years Title IX has protected girls and women’s rights, but President Biden has abandoned those protections to appease the woke left." He further criticized the rule by highlighting its potential implications on women in educational and athletic settings.
Knudsen emphasized, "This rule is not based in scientific reality. It redefines biological sex which will allow men to compete in women’s sports, violate women’s privacy, and put women and girls in dangerous situations on campus. I will continue to fight to protect women and uphold Montana’s laws against federal overreach."
The lawsuit led by Attorney General Knudsen aims to challenge the federal coercion of schools into promoting gender identity theories and potentially denying equal access to athletics for women and girls. The rule's broader implications could impact various aspects of educational and athletic opportunities for females across the country.
Moreover, the lawsuit raises concerns about the potential financial burdens on states like Montana, as well as the impact on victims of sex discrimination and violence who rely on Title IX protections. Attorney General Knudsen's commitment to upholding state laws and protecting women's rights remains steadfast amidst the ongoing legal battle.
The coalition, co-led by Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill and joined by Mississippi and Idaho, stands united in opposition to the Biden administration's actions. Their collective efforts reflect a broader push to safeguard women's rights and combat federal overreach in matters concerning gender identity and Title IX regulations.
