A virtual Public Meeting is being held by the Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DES) to keep people informed about the flood debris that will shortly be cleared on February 15th.
The state of Montana will keep the public apprised of any new developments regarding the removal of debris caused by flooding in Carbon, Park, and Stillwater counties. Many victims of the record flooding that struck those regions in June of last year have made applications for aid from the federal government and the Red Cross. The United States Small Business Administration has given its blessing to the disbursement of catastrophe loans totaling millions of dollars.
The high water had a considerable impact on municipalities located in Carbon County including Red Lodge, Belfry, and Fromberg. Carbon County is accepting applications for grants of up to $3,000 from the county disaster relief fund in order to assist victims in regaining access to their homes and mitigating the effects of extremely hazardous living conditions.
After the incident in June 2022, Governor Gianforte visited the affected areas and stated that the state is prepared to offer assistance.
