Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee Chairman Delivers Remarks In Honor Of Fallen Heroes At Memorial Day Ceremony In Great Falls

U.S. Senator Jon Tester, Chairman of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, today delivered remarks in honor of Montana’s fallen at a Memorial Day ceremony alongside veterans, local officials, and community members in Great Falls.

“On Memorial Day, we come together to remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to this nation,” said Tester. “We not only pay our respects to those who lost their lives in the line of duty, but also vow to keep supporting their loved ones and doing right by their fellow servicemembers—both on and off the battlefield. While we can never fully repay the debt we owe to them, it’s on all of us to honor their legacy today and every day. These are the heroes that have made Montana the Last Best Place, and our country the greatest in the world.”

Tester is the only member of the Montana delegation who sits on the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, of which he has been a member of since 2007. For years, he has worked to improve the delivery of health care services and benefits for those who served and their families. This includes laws authored by Tester to deliver for toxic-exposed veterans under the Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson Honoring our PACT Act, strengthen support for women veterans under the Deborah Sampson Act, bolster mental health care services under the Commander John Scott Hannon Veterans Mental Health Care Improvement Act (Hannon Act),as well as bolster veterans’ access to community care and expand VA caregiver benefits to veterans of all eras and their families under the VA MISSION Act.
