A Montana man, Edmund Davis, has been sentenced to 100 years at the Montana State Prison for possessing child sex abuse material. The sentence, which includes 50 years suspended and a stipulation that he will not be eligible for parole for 25 years, was announced by Attorney General Austin Knudsen. Judge Kaydee Snipes-Ruiz delivered the sentencing.

Davis pled guilty last year to one count of sexual abuse of children after authorities discovered illicit material on his electronic devices in 2023. The content included images depicting individuals under the age of 13, with some showing children as young as infants and toddlers.

The discovery occurred in July 2023 when Havre Police Department executed a search warrant at Davis's apartment. This action followed information that a woman who had gone missing from Glendale, Arizona as a teenager in 2019 was residing there. During the search, officers observed Davis attempting to conceal a cellphone by throwing it into a trash can.

The seized phone and other electronic devices were transferred to the Division of Criminal Investigation Computer Forensics Unit in Helena. A subsequent search warrant allowed DCI agents to identify known child sexual abuse material photo series among other evidentiary images.
