Montana State University to host Student Research Celebration on Dec. 1

Montana State University will host its fall Student Research Celebration from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1, in Norm Asbjornson Hall’s Inspiration Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

The celebration, organized by the MSU Undergraduate Scholars Program, will feature the work of both graduate and undergraduate students from a variety of disciplines across all of MSU’s colleges. More than 40 students will present their research posters and offer explanations and results of their projects to the Bozeman community.

Two poster sessions in Inspiration Hall will showcase the students’ work, and light refreshments will be available throughout the event. The morning session will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and the afternoon session will be from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

The Student Research Celebration allows the campus and community at large learn about the hard work students do every day, according to Colin Shaw, director of MSU’s Undergraduate Scholars Program.

Student research topics include watershed contaminants, environmental factors on insect size, bacteria, mental health issues among adolescents, music therapy, and influences on crowdfunding. A full program can be found online at montana.edu/usp/student_research_celebration.html.

Sponsors and partners for the event include the MSU Office of the Provost, Graduate School, Vice President for Research and Economic Development, College of Agriculture, College of Arts and Architecture, Jake Jabs College of Business and Entrepreneurship, College of Education, Health and Human Development, Norm Asbjornson College of Engineering, College of Letters and Science,  Mark and Robyn Jones College of Nursing, the Honors College, American Indian Research Opportunities, Center for Biofilm Engineering, TRIO Ronald E.
