Montana Republican U.S. Sen. Steve Daines raised more than $6.6 million for his reelection bid this November, far outpacing his Democratic challengers, according to recent campaign donation database reports.
Daines is the front-runner in the Montana U.S. Senate race. Ballotpedia’s Feb. 11 race rating leans solidly for the Republican to keep his seat.
Daines thus far has spent $2.4 million and still has a healthy amount of cash on hand, according to campaign finance data website opensecrets.org.
The Republican senator’s main donation source is large individual contributions, totaling $3.1 million. PAC contributions amount to $2.1 million and individual donations less than $200 total $626,493.
His Democratic rivals combined have raised approximately $825,000. Cora Neumann’s $462,056 campaign contributions are the most among the Democrats seeking to flip the Senate seat from red to blue.
Approximately 15 percent of Neumann’s donations come from donations less than $200.
Neumann, a Bozeman resident who works on public land issues, is running in the Democratic primary against Helena Mayor Wilmot Collins and Navy veteran and engineer John Mues, according to the Missoula Current.
Collins and Mues have raised $232,000 and $131,000 respectively.
Daines is the lone candidate in the Republican primary.
The primary is June 2.
