Freshman Rep. Matt Rosendale (R-Mont) claimed that Montana will lose an incredible amount in tax revenue because of President Joe Biden’s decision to cancel the Keystone XL Pipeline permit.
“Biden's move to end the Keystone XL means MT will lose $58M in tax revenue,” Rosendale said. “5 out of 6 impacted counties are designated high-poverty areas. The lost funds mean less money for public services and eliminating job opportunities where they're needed most.”
The tax revenue would have been a huge support to school systems and road maintenance.
Even before Biden's inauguration, Rosendale said that revoking the Keystone XL permit would kill jobs and slash revenues for the people of Montana.
“The Keystone XL Pipeline would've had tremendous positive impacts on rural communities across Montana," Rosendale wrote on Twitter. "Before his inauguration, I wrote to President Biden and asked him to reconsider killing the pipeline. Now, I will do everything I can to try to get this pipeline re-permitted.”
Rosendale is supporting the Keystone XL Pipeline Construction and Jobs Act and co-sponsored a similar bill drafted by House by Rep. Kelly Armstrong.
Montana has the largest portion of the pipeline with about 1200 miles.
