President Trump tweeted to show support for state auditor Matt Rosendale, who is running in the Republican primary. He is hoping to fill Montana’s U.S. House seat.

President Trump called Mr. Rosendale a “strong & conservative fighter” and also touted Rosendale's military record and highlighted that Rosendale supports gun ownership rights.

"@MattForMontana Rosendale is a strong & conservative fighter for Montana. Matt stands w/ our brave veterans, loves our military, and he will continue working to secure our border. Matt will NEVER let our #2A go unprotected. Matt has my total endorsement," Trump tweeted.

In 2016, Mr. Rosendale was elected as an auditor. He ran for the U.S. Senate seat in 2018 but was unsuccessful in his efforts. Additionally, Mr. Rosendale is one of several candidates running for the Republican nomination in the primary scheduled for June 2.

Republican Greg Gianforte, who is Montana’s current U.S. representative, is running for governor of Montana.
